etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar Review - 2022 Jeep Cherokee- Video
Hey everyone, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2022 Jeep Cherokee, we're gonna be checking out the etrailer SD tow bar. Right off the bat, these etrailer SD tow bars are gonna be available in several different configurations, and really, the only difference is going to be what type of adapter end comes with it. So the one that we have here today is going to work with Blue Ox base plates as well as Curt base plates. And if you happen to have a different, you know, brand of base plate, whether it be a Roadmaster or another one, chances are really good that the SD is gonna be available with that adapter and to allow you to pair them two together. With that said though, when it comes to picking out a tow bar, it's a pretty important decision, you know, 'cause it's gonna be responsible for a lot of the work, being the physical link that's going to connect the back of your motor home to your vehicle. more

A tow bar is gonna be one of the main components that you're gonna need to set your jeep up whenever you are ready to flat tow it. The other parts will be your base plate, which your tow bar hooks up to, your safety cables, which connect the front of your Jeep to the back of your coach, your tow bar wiring, which sends the lighting signals from the back of your coach to the back of your Jeep, and last but not least, your supplemental braking system, which will apply the brakes in your Grand Cherokee L when you hit the brakes in your motorhome, bringing you to a safe and predictable stop. But with all that said, when it comes to picking out a tow bar, it's gonna be a really important decision because it's responsible for a lot of the work, right You know, being that main link that's keeping everything paired together. Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain Tow Bar Installation - 2024 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited- Video
Hey, guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we have a 2024 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, and we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna show you some of the features on the Roadmaster Nighthawk tow bar. Now, right off the bat, some of the features that are gonna separate the Nighthawk from a lot of other tow bars out there is one being that it has LED strip lights here on the side of the tow bar to let others know that you are in fact connected to a vehicle so that when they're trying to change lanes at night, that they hopefully will see the tow bar lit up in between the vehicle and the coach and they don't just think that it's a vehicle following close behind you. The other thing it's gonna have, it'll have the wiring run through the tow bar, as well as these safety chain loops on both sides. This is going to be a non-binding tow bar, which if you don't know what that is, it means that when these bars are locked out in the travel position, which they are right now, if you ever get to where you're going and there's a bind up in this pin and you can't get the pin pulled, what you'll do is you'll take this lever, flip it up, that's going to unlock the bar so that you can loosen up this pin and get it out and get it unhooked from your vehicle. The Nighthawk is gonna have a max weight capacity of 8,000 pounds, which is really, really good for the Jeep since the Jeep is not even close to that weight capacity. more

Now, there's five main components required when flat towing a vehicle, and starting on the vehicle side, the first thing is gonna be the base plate, and that's gonna attach to the frame of the vehicle or a structural part of the vehicle that's gonna allow you to attach the rest of the components, and safely tow it down the road. Now connected to the arms on our base plate is gonna be our tow bar, and this is the connection point between the hitch on the RV and the towed vehicle. On our base plate, we also have these loops for safety chains, which is gonna be one of the components. So in case of a disconnect, you still have those chains holding onto the towed vehicle. We also have a supplemental braking system, which is gonna slow and stop the vehicle while going down the road as you apply the brakes on the RV. more

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at the Roadmaster Nighthawk tow bar with Blue Ox adapters on it. A 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Your Nighthawk is gonna be one of the five main components required for flat-towing a vehicle and this be creates the attachment point between the RV and the vehicle. You have the hitch on the RV, and it attaches to the base plate on your towed vehicle, and that's gonna be the mounting point for a lot of your components that attaches to the frame of the vehicle creating a nice solid mounting point. Now on your base plate, we also have a safety chain and this is going to make sure that in case of an accidental disconnect, you're still attached to the hitch on the RV. We also have our supplemental braking system and that's going to bring the vehicle to a slower stop as you apply the brakes on the RV but you also have a breakaway cable, and that way, in case of a catastrophic disconnect, it's gonna pull that cable, putting the brakes on the vehicle and bringing it to a stop, rather than rolling down the highway. more

So we've opted to choose the Blue Ox version and that way these adapters mount up to the arms. But if you have a Roadmaster base plate, not to worry they have that option available as well. Now, as you can see this attachment point might look a little bit different than your typical Roadmaster, and really all the difference is is this is set up for a Blue Ox. So, if you have a Blue Ox space plate, you're gonna wanna make sure to select the Nighthawk that has the blue ox attachments and that way it goes together. And that's really the only difference between the rest of the tow bar is just gonna be this attachment point. Now, the Nighthawk is the premier tow bar that's out on the market and it's got all the bells and whistles and overall it's just super high quality in pretty much every point. And a lot of that comes down to just Roadmaster quality, but a lot of your touch points and just the mechanics of it overall feel really good. more

Hey, everybody, how's it going Today, we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain Tow Bar here on our 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. So the Roadmaster Nighthawk is a premium tow bar option, perhaps one of the best options on the market. So for starters, it has an 8,000 pound weight capacity, which is gonna be perfect for the vast majority of vehicles that are being towed behind your motorhome. For some of those larger half-ton, three-quarter-ton or even one-ton trucks, that's when you may wanna look at an upgraded option. But for anything else under that, this Nighthawk here is gonna be a great choice. So some of the most notable features of the Nighthawk, number one, you can see we have an LED light strip on the outside of each of our arms. more

Hey everybody, how's it going Today we're gonna be going over the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain Tow Bar here on our 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. So a tow bar is gonna be something you absolutely need in order to flat tow your Jeep here. It is a critical component that attaches the motor home to the vehicle here by the base plates. Now, the Falcon All Terrain is one of the great tow bar options that I like. It's sort of a middle of the road option. It's certainly not a premium one but, it's definitely not a cheap one either. more

etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar Installation - 2021 Jeep Cherokee- Video
Hey everybody, how's it goin' Today, we're gonna to be going over and showing you how to install the etrailer SD Tow Bar here on a 2021 Jeep Cherokee. A tow bar is gonna be the physical connection between the trailer hitch on the motor home and the base plate kit here on the towed vehicle. So it's gonna be one of the several other components that we need to successfully flat to our vehicle, including a base plate kit. A lot of the tow bars such as this one come with the safety cables, therefore we don't need to purchase that separately. We're also gonna need a supplemental braking system in most states and a wiring harness to transmit the signals. The SD Tow Bar is rated for 6,000 pounds, which is gonna be more than enough for the Cherokee here, you shouldn't ever have to worry about exceeding that. more
